Cameroon: Foreign multinationals to control goods at port of Douala

APAConsistence control operations did before the shipment of merchandise imported in Cameroon have been depended to the Swiss organizations SGS and Intertek International UK, having some expertise in control, review, investigation and affirmation of items, authority sources said on Monday.According to the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Technological Development, the marking of this agreement will support the execution of the Conformity Assessment Program before the shipment of products imported in the Republic of Cameroon (PECAE), which was dispatched a year ago.

This system, the powers said, will lessen the entry in Cameroon of imported items which don't meet the principles in power.

The project gives, among others, the issuing of licenses to practicing structures set up in trading nations.

Under the terms of the understanding, it will be dependent upon SGS– which has as of now been working at the port of Douala for twenty years– and to the British organization Intertek International, to direct, at the exporters' expenses, in advance consistence controls before the shipment of products to Cameroon, a nation that has no cutting edge research centers to screen consistence of merchandise.
